About the PositionJob Title: Emergency Room Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in Emergency Room License: Illinois license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, TNS or TNCC, NIHSS Must-Have: - Minimum 3 years of Emergency Room experience - Experience with moderate sedation - Flexibility to rotate start times Description: Provide emergency care to the community. Experience with a variety of cases, from minor injuries to major trauma. Triage area available in the department. Patient care is intermingled with various cases. A total of 24 beds are available in the emergency department. Behavioral health safe rooms are included in the bed count. Security is present in-house 24/7 and readily available. On average, treat 60-80 patients in the emergency department per day. Nurse-to-patient ratios typically range from 1:4 to 1:5, adjusted based on staffing and acuity. Experience with critical care drips is required. Moderate sedation experience is needed. Common diagnoses include respiratory viruses, myocardial infarctions, and motor vehicle accidents. Flexibility to work every other weekend is necessary. Holiday work will be required on a rotating basis. Staff includes physician coverage during the day and mid-level providers overnight. Emergency department technicians assist with patient care tasks. Nurses are expected to manage all aspects of patient care, including blood draws and EKGs. Imaging services are connected to the emergency department for patient transport. RT staff is available for necessary support. Care coordination includes a patient care liaison to assist with auxiliary services. Solid color professional scrubs are required. Two 12-hour shifts will be allocated for department-specific orientation.
