Description
A.T. Still University (ATSU) is seeking an exempt Assistant Director, Student Accounts on the Kirksville, Missouri, campus. The Assistant Director is a member of the finance department team and reports to the Director, Student Accounts. This individual will assist with the oversight of student billing and collections process of ATSU. This position requires knowledge of account management, collections, student financial aid, general ledger accounting, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The assistant director is responsible for leading a team to ensure departmental objectives are achieved with accuracy and effectiveness, while positively improving the student experience.
The assistant director is responsible for all aspects of up-front customer service activities including training and evaluation of customer service skills for student account staff; managing the billing and collection of tuition and related educational fees; ensuring daily operations are managed effectively; and assisting with developing and administering policies and procedures to ensure compliance with university policies, federal and state laws.
This position is available for telecommuting (a blend of in-office and remote work.)
Major Job Duties
- Assist with managing daily student accounts operations to ensure accuracy and timeliness of billings and collection processes, and organization of workflow for optimum efficiency and customer satisfaction
- Support oversight of the student accounts module of Campus Nexus student information system with focused collaboration with colleagues to enhance system integrations, operational improvements, and other campus-wide improvement opportunities
- Reinforce a system of controls to assure data integrity and accuracy within student accounts
- Assist with managing ATSU's student payment plans and the issuing of student refunds
- Communicate accurate student account information and policies on web pages and ATSU University Catalog
- Continuous evaluation of current operations to document and/or develop new policies as needed
- Resolve escalated issues related to payment processing, account holds, contractual payment agreements, outside scholarships, and third-party billing
- Ensure proper classification, recording, and accuracy of payments in accordance with updated IRS regulations related to Form 1098-T reporting
- Facilitate student accounts staff development and training
- Provide oversight to maintain compliance with all internal and external regulatory policies and procedures including a working knowledge of federal, state, and institutional policies governing the various student aid programs, such as the programs provided by Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965
- Contributes to the overall success of the finance department by performing all other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned
Skills/Requirements
- Four year business related degree required
- Strong computer skills are essential
- Knowledge of GAAP and internal control concepts and principles
