To receive, issue, deliver, store, and inventory foodstuffs, supplies, equipment and materials for the Food Stores department of Student Life and Engagement; receives and puts away stock using hand held terminals and bar code readers; assembles orders using a headset and voice picking software; verifies bills of lading and vendor invoices against purchase orders; performs regular inventory checks as directed; assists customers with pick up orders; maintains cleanliness in working area; changes light bulbs as needed; makes deliveries to on and off campus locations; reports any problems with vehicles as needed; monitors and records temperatures in the freezer and cooler areas.
All positions in SLE are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If a person has an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of their normally scheduled work hours remotely, they may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.
Minimum Requirements
Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working knowledge of proper food safety storage and inventory methods is necessary.
Working knowledge and demonstrated ability to satisfactorily operate a motor vehicle.
Possession of a valid Michigan chauffeur's license at the time of hire. Applicant must have good driving record and submit their driver's license number on their application form for a motor vehicle record check.
Possession or attainment of an MSU Fork Lift operator's permit prior to completion of applicable probation or trial period.
Frequent lifting of over 75 pounds is required.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with hand held data collection devices such as bar code scanners; voice picking experience; good math and reading skills; Desired Edu./Exp. good communication skills; experience with pallet trucks and fork lifts.
