The mission of the DISH Food Pantry is to Deliver Information, Sustenance, and Health (DISH) to the Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) campus community. The DISH aims to empower those in need to obtain resources so that they may focus on being healthy, happy, and successful at Bunker Hill Community College without the barrier of fighting hunger. The DISH Food Pantry is a student-driven and supported resource that is committed to being a safe, dignified, and stigma-free environment. The DISH Food Pantry aspires to alleviate the barriers associated with food insecurity to support student success at Bunker Hill Community College and to ensure that no one goes hungry because of a lack of income or access to food.
Responsibilities:
Provide assistance with the many operational aspects of running the DISH Food Pantry including: receiving deliveries, mail room runs, picking up orders and donations from grocery stores or partner organizations, sorting donations, restocking, and updating inventory.
Make weekly trips to the Chelsea Campus to restock inventory and deliver locker orders.
Collaborate closely with DISH Food Pantry Coordinator and Assistant.
Assist with processing new DISH intake forms as needed.
Communicate with DISH users via phone, text, email, and in person in a respectful, professional and friendly manner.
Communicate with partners (Food for Free, FoodLink, Hope & Comfort, etc.) via phone and email in an effective and professional manner.
Along with the DISH Food Pantry Coordinator and Assistant, help oversee an average of 10 DISH student staff members per semester, including assigning tasks and giving directions.
Utilize a variety of technological software, apps, and programs (i.e. Microsoft suite, Google Drive, SmartChoice, Qualtrics, Canva, Instagram, Facebook, etc.) for food inventory, managing pantry orders, creating marketing materials, social media, etc.
On occasion, represent the DISH at on-campus events and/or present about DISH at various meetings and classes.
Help to ensure food safety requirements are being followed at all times at all DISH locations.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues across BHCC departments including Integrated Marketing & Communications (IMC), Central Services, Mail Room, Facilities, HelpDesk, SingleStop, HOPE, etc.
Serve as a member of the Division of Student Affairs staff; may attend meetings or division events when appropriate.
Perform related administrative duties, assignments, or special projects as required.

Job Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree.
1-2 years of relevant work experience.
General familiarity with food systems (from food pantry and grocery store work, restaurant experience, etc.).
Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
Valid MA driver's license.
Comfortable driving a cargo van around the Greater Boston area.
ServSafe Certified or willingness to take a Pantry Food Safety Workshop if hired.
Bilingual in Spanish, Haitian Creole, French or Mandarin preferred but not required.
Additional Information:
Salary: $35.31 an hour at 18.5 hours a week. Part-Time Non-Benefited position.
This position is contingent upon funding approval. When funding is secured, the position will be filled during the Spring 2025 semester and the assignment will end by June 30, 2025.
