Middle Tennessee State University is seeking a Chief Audit Executive responsible for working with management to assess the effectiveness of controls that management is responsible for establishing and maintaining. Provide an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve the university's operations. Plan and conduct financial, operational and compliance audits to determine the adequacy of the institution's systems of internal control; the economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of financial administrative and academic management; and the degree of compliance with State and institutional policies and procedures as well as applicable federal or other local laws and regulations. Conduct special investigations as requested, and make recommendations for improved controls, operating procedures, accounting records, and systems design. Perform administrative and budgetary functions for the Department of Audit and Consulting Services. Interact with high level officers of the institution on matters of policies and procedures.
Required Education
Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting or related field required. Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor required.
Required Related Experience
Eight (8) years progressively responsible experience in public accounting, internal auditing, or governmental accounting; two years supervisory experience; experience in working with large computerized accounting systems required.
