Caldwell University invites applications for a full-time, Chief Information Officer (CIO), available January 2023. The CIO is responsible to the Vice President for Operations and Administration for directing the implementation and administration of all information technology services for the university ensuring business continuity and student satisfaction. Job duties include, but are not limited to;
Implementing and updating the strategic plan for Information Technology (IT).
Developing and implementing IT Policies and Procedures.
Ensuring that an appropriate level of security exists for all information systems and that all staff are adequately trained in cyber security protocols in order to ensure the protection of the Department’s electronic data and information.
Developing strategies to manage the design, development and tactical implementation of the IT Department’s initiatives. Identifying opportunities for cost-effective investment of financial resources in IT systems including staffing, sourcing, purchasing and in-house development.
Overseeing the transition to Cloud computing for server, workstation infrastructure (DaaS) and storage (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure/OneDrive). Hiring, developing, and reviewing responsibilities of IT staff. Overseeing technical projects, system and software upgrades.
Developing and maintaining disaster recovery and IT policies and procedures documentation.
Ensuring timely and accurate delivery of technology products and services.
Preparing and managing the operating and capital budget for the department.
Negotiating contracts with manufacturers for software, hardware and consulting services.
A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent education and experience plus ten or more years of progressive IT experience, including experience in a multi-office environment is required. Must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed. Advanced technical and managerial credentials, including PMP, CISM, preferred. Experience in working in higher education or with non-profit organizations preferred. May need to lift hardware or equipment. The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader with demonstrated ability to inspire a team of technical staff, to work with the executive management of the University, and to manage multiple concurrent projects. Must also have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Critical to this position is the ability to meet deadlines, to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products, and to take initiative in the development and completion of projects.
