This position is responsible for developing and implementing cyber policy, compliance, privacy and risk assessment strategies to protect our users and our enterprise platforms from cybersecurity threats. Example responsibilities include evaluating technologies for cyber and privacy risks (technology being procured or in use organically by the AU community such as a third party mobile app), performing impact analysis on compliance requirements related to areas such as federal requirements for research and data handling, new or evolving privacy laws, developing mitigations for broader cyber risks such as data retention and identity management, and supporting legal processes such as document holds. This position will require highly collaborative work across the Office of Information Technology (OIT) and across the university with campus stakeholders such as the Office of General Counsel and Risk Management.

 

Assists the CISO in developing and maintaining cyber policies, assessing privacy implications, and developing and implementing compliance and risk management programs. Programs will include routine assessments to ensure currency, regulatory compliance, and maturity. Contributes to cyber security plans and audits to support regulatory, compliance, and audit requirements.

 

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to:

1. Assessing, developing, and implementing policies (with OIT and campus partners) and programs in support of digital privacy and security.
2. Maintains awareness of current cyber legislation, privacy, risk and policy developments through research and self-study.
3. Communicates with the university community regarding security and privacy matters through formal and informal presentations.
4. Works with campus partners to identify improvement opportunities and assess existing programs and policies.
