The University of Arkansas Department of Athletics is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director – Athletic Department Accounting, Budget, and Financial Reporting. This position has the responsibility for daily management of several key fiscal activities for the Department’s 19 sports and over 40 administrative and support units, to include:
Accounting - Provide oversight of departmental accounting to ensure accurate and timely accounting for all financial transactions. Manage the revenue accounting requirements for ticket sales, contributions, contractual income, NCAA and Conference distributions, and other departmental receipts. Ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual financial accounting close is completed in an effective and efficient manner. Provide oversight of timely general ledger account, ticket sales and event revenue reconciliations. Liaison to Campus Financial Affairs, internal and external auditors. Manage department endowment accounts and financial activity. Manage department fixed asset accounting and annual inventory processes.
Budget - Provide oversight of annual budget preparation and entry into the University finance system. Prepare monthly budget reports and communicate to appropriate managers. Serve as point of contact with budget managers to monitor budgets and respond to questions.
Financial Reporting - Prepare annual financial reports to include revenue and expense reporting requirements for the Arkansas Department of Higher Education, U.S. Department of Education EADA, and NCAA. Prepare quarterly financial reports to include trial balance, balance sheet and consolidated statement of revenues and expenses for internal departmental review. Prepare and submit various financial activity reports to Campus, NCAA, and SEC.
Financial Analysis - Ongoing analysis of departmental budgets to actual revenues and expenditures. Provide regular analysis of various financial activities and trends to include ticket sales, contractual income, NCAA and conference distributions, and department expenditures. Monitor all revenue contracts for revenue assurance and compliance with contract provisions. Utilize data analytics tools to complete quality assurance review of financial transactions.
Policies and Internal Controls. Develop, implement, communicate, and monitor policies, procedures, and internal controls for departmental accounting, budget, financial reporting, and other financial activities.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related Business field of study

At least five years of progressive experience with management of accounting, budget, and financial reporting functions for an organization

At least three years of experience managing accounting or finance support staff

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and concurrent tasks, and ability to meet deadlines for financial accounting and reporting

Experience with developing and implementing policies, procedures, and internal controls

Experience with written and verbal presentation of financial activity and reports

Demonstrated professionalism in establishing and maintaining strong working relationships
Preferred Qualifications:
