I. Position Information

III. Position Summary
The Assistant Vice President for Financial Aid is responsible for the strategic planning and execution of all financial aid activities at the University. This includes managing the financial aid process, all employees, the federal Title IV Aid Program as well as all institutional and federal/state financial aid programs. The AVP has oversight of the awarding and disbursement of financial aid, including scholarships and institutional aid. The AVP is responsible for all contractual aid agreements with federal and state agencies and must ensure regulatory compliance with institutional, state, and federal aid programs.
IV. Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Vice President for Financial Aid is responsible for:
? Provide leadership to the campus community in understanding the impact of federal, state, and institutional financial aid budgeting decisions toward achieving college enrollment objectives.
?Provide strategic planning for financial aid awarding policy to the University President, the Vice President of Finance & Facilities, and the Vice President of Enrollment Management.
? Responsible for all financial aid data required for Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and other financial data that may be required for academic professional organizations.
? Ensure that Financial Aid Office practices are guided by and comply with ethical standards; knowledgeable of and contribute to the national dialog on the role and purpose of financial aid. Provide leadership to financial aid staff; encourage innovation within staff in the Financial Aid Office to enliven services and programs in support of student financial opportunities.
? Responsible for financial aid modeling and financial aid analysis of institutional, federal, and state awarding policies and budget goals.
? Responsible for compliance with all federal and state regulations as well as adherence to all NCAA rules pertaining to awarding financial aid to student-athletes.
? Serve as a member of Hui Haku, Hui Konohiki, and other committees addressing admission and financial aid.
? Work collaboratively with the admissions leadership team to develop innovative strategies where financial aid can assist with the recruitment of students from diverse backgrounds.
? Other duties as assigned.

VI. Qualifications
Minimum Education
- Master’s Degree in an appropriate field such as Business, Communications, Higher Education Administration, Guidance and Counseling or a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field plus ten (10) years of experience in Financial Aid.
Experience and Skills:
- At least ten (10) years of experience working in and leading a Financial Aid unit.
- Thorough knowledge of federal and state regulations as they pertain to programs administered by the Financial Aid
office. - Knowledge of financial aid modeling sufficient to work with outside consultants to implement modeling within the unit.
- Knowledge of administering financial aid for a NCAA Division II athletic program.
- Ability to lead and manage a team, including personnel management skills to include interviewing, hiring, coaching, training, evaluating employees, and other skills necessary to manage the staff in the financial aid office.
- Duties involve light work in an office and community setting and requires a minimum of physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking inclines. Must be able to lift 20 pounds have excellent motor skills and be able to sit or stand for 30 minutes at a time. Must have finger dexterity. Must be able to communicate clearly with staff, students, and others.
