The Tax, Grants and Service Center Accountant is responsible for the lead technical support for development of the University’s Facilities & Administrative (F&A) Rate Proposal and Disclosure. Incumbent will be responsible for providing operational support, policy development, strategic planning, project management and professional/technical expertise concerning the F&A Proposal. The incumbent serves as the central unit business expert in providing technical and professional accounting support to Sponsored Program Services and department staff for grant financial postings and accounting in Workday. The Tax, Grants and Service Center Accountant will provide support and guidance for university Service Centers. The incumbent acts as Service Center Administrator providing advice and monitoring to ensure policy compliance.
Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for reviewing and approving Service Center cost centers/programs and the continued yearly monitoring. The Tax, Grants and Service Center Accountant also provides university support for sales and use tax and serves and the primary contact with the Washington State Department of Revenue on sales tax related items. Serves as the Central Unit Business Expert for sales tax functionality in Workday.
The incumbent requires a thorough understanding of Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) and a general understanding of sales and use.
This position is currently eligible for remote work; the work schedule is required to primarily overlap normal Office hours M-F between 8am - 5pm Pacific Time.
A Bachelor’s degree in business, economics or a related field, and three (3) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Experience using software and technology applications, including Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and relevant web-based applications, that improve workflow and organizational efficiencies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills which includes the ability to author, deliver and provide training of complex material to all levels of constituents.
