This position supports the mission of the VPFA Business Service Center by ensuring accuracy and transparency of accounting processes. Processes university utility payments and ensures account numbers and timely payments. Answers policy and procedure questions regarding general accounting, reporting, chart of accounts and other accounting related issues. Collaborates within VPFABSC by providing insight or suggestions for budgeting, forecasting and problem-solving within planning units.
1. Processing of monthly invoices for utility payments for the university. This includes processing for payment, tracking payment, and confirming payment posts to proper vendor account in a timely manner. Initiates purchase orders and subsequent change orders as needed in accordance with University Procurement policy. Audits and approves invoices and processes them for payment using EnergyCAP software.
2. Communications with external vendors to appropriate supporting documents, to resolve issues and to identify opportunities for improvement. Serves as the single point of contact for internal and external customers to answer questions and resolve issues. Provides supporting documentation for customer inquires regarding billing rates and transaction detail. 3. Measures actual performance versus budget and prepares budgets and forecasts for departments. Monitors expenditures and payroll distributions to ensure actuals are recorded in agreement with budget. Processes internal and external billings as needed for utilities and other unit needs. Processes corrections for any charges that need moved to the proper account. 4. Prepares and reviews monthly/quarterly/annual accounting transactions and accruals. Maintains focus on continuous process improvement and proper chart of account usage. Creates and reviews financial statements, performs financial analyses and makes recommendations from the data. Conducts on-going account reconciliations, verifying that transactions are properly recorded in the General Ledger.
This position may supervise student workers and provide training to other Ohio University Employees.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the field of finance, budget planning and accounting. Demonstrated collaborative and teamwork abilities with ability to communicate to diverse audiences. Experience in spreadsheet and database analytical tools.

• Bachelors in Business Administration or Accounting and experience in conducting financial or budgeting analysis and forecasting. • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Finance/ Accounting Field

Additional Salary Information: The hiring range for pay grade 16 is $44,558– $71,293 and the target salary range for this position is $44,558 – $51,242. Salary is commensurate with education and experience, while also considering internal equity.
