Olivet College is located in south central Michigan in the town of Olivet, MI, which is a close knit, rural community offering quiet streets and natural surroundings, yet is not more than 30 minutes from the larger cities of Lansing and Battle Creek. Both are small enough to be friendly and large enough to boast many of the big city amenities. SUMMARY The college is seeking qualified applicants for a Senior Accountant position. Reporting to the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, the successful candidate will provide support in carrying out the responsibilities of the Business Office, including maintaining the college’s accounting system to assist in the preparation of internal financial reports in the presentation and interpretation to executive management, Resources Committee and the Board of Trustees. Additionally, this position will maintain the general ledger accurately, analyze transactions, reconcile of several bank accounts, communicate budget information to various College departments, and perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned. (position details follow the posting information) EDUCATION Required: Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited four-year college or university Preferred: Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field EXPERIENCE Required: 3 – 5 years of experience in the performance of accounting and finance related duties and responsibilities Preferred: Higher education or non-profit industry experience, CPA or CMA designation COMPENSATION: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Extended periods of time spent typing on computer and viewing documents on a computer screen. Other conditions are typical of an office environment with no known hazards, some light lifting. WORK SCHEDULE: Normal work day is Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM, including one hour allocated for lunch. Flexibility is needed to allow for periodic evening and weekend hours.
