Your role

The College of Medicine- Phoenix is seeking an applicant for a Assistant Dean of Finance (Financial Analysis Manager V). This is a professional position and plays a critical role in financial, operational and strategic management in a highly-matrixed organization and reports to the Associate Dean, Finance and Administration. This position provides senior-level fiscal resource management for the College. Responsibilities include budgeting, oversight, coordination, strategic planning and direction of the business and financial operations of the College to ensure compliance with established University, state and federal financial operations, policies and procedures as required of a college of medicine. The role manages the financial partnerships between the college and its clinical/educational partners which support it's missions. This position will provide leadership and direction to administrative staff responsible for the day-to-day budgetary and financial operations in Administration.

An example of what you will do:

Budgeting:

• Implement the organization's budget policies; manage and compile annual budget process and intermediate financial forecasts at college and university level.
• Produce budget and performance reports for senior management. Manage financial planning and analysis activities to identify risks and opportunities and contribute to the achievement of the organization's short and long-term financial goals.

Financial Reporting and Analysis: 

• Manage complex, large, or difficult analysis projects; evaluate findings, prepare reports and make recommendations to senior management regarding the financial implications of proposed investments and transactions.
• Contribute to the development of financial strategies for the college or its various units that align with the organization's overall vision and its current and long-term business objectives.

Financial Management & Accounting:

• Oversees and monitors college state appropriations, coordinating with the University Budget Office on issues related to state budget reductions, salary merit/market/ equity allocations and annual tuition calculations and marginal increases.
• Oversees and monitors expenditures of all College funds, (i.e., state, mission support, unrestricted, restricted, grant, endowment and foundation).

Financial Presentations & Annual Reports:

• Oversees and directs the preparation of College all fund financial reports including those required for LCME accreditation, state legislative reporting, and the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and the Association of Academic Health Centers at the national level.

Liaison & College Representative:

• Serves as liaison for Medicine Administration, College departments and University business units; presides at College of Medicine business officers' meetings and serves as liaison with counterparts in the other UAHS colleges.
