Liberty University, in partnership with the national search firm Scott Healy & Associates, invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice President of Student Financial Services.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer of the University and serving as an integral member of his team, the Vice President is responsible for leading the following departments: Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Military Affairs, and State Approvals operations at the University. The Student Financial Services Division (SFS) includes approximately 220 Financial Aid Office employees, 180 Student Accounts Employees, 2 State Approvals Employees, 57 Military Affairs employees and 26 central administration SFS Division employees. The Financial Aid Office processes in excess of $1 billion in paid financial aid funds per year and serves over 15,000 resident and 110,000 on-line students
Qualifications: The ideal candidate should have the following knowledge and understanding of financial aid process and programs including but not limited to:
Federal grants, federal loans, federal campus-based funds, various state programs, private scholarships, vocational rehabilitation, veterans’ benefits programs at federal and state levels, federal and private loans, and institutional aid (including discounts and endowed funds);
Extensive process and regulatory knowledge of mission critical areas of processing;
Excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory skills;
Excellent managerial skills including encouraging a positive, productive atmosphere, monitoring;
Ability to problem-solve and frame issues for resolution from operational staff, operational management, General Counsel, and/or executive leadership;
Ability to effectively utilize MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint and Bizflow;
Advanced experience with Banner Administrative Software or an equivalent ERP System including knowledge of setup and validation parameters;
Minimum of 10 years of previous financial aid experience including 5 years of staff supervision;
A Master’s Degree is required with a Doctoral Degree preferred;
Ability to model out impact of new, altered or eliminated financial aid programs in context of enrollment management needs, econometric implications, student behavior and marketing are also preferred qualifications.
