Reporting directly to the University President, the Vice President for Finance and Treasurer is the University’s chief finance and business officer with responsibility for: accounting; financial reporting; audit; financial services such as accounts payable; cash, debt, and investment management; real estate; risk management; procurement; and conceiving, structuring, and executing new business partnerships and collaborations. The Vice President serves as a member of the President’s senior executive team, is responsible for providing financial and business analyses to the President and the Board of Trustees, and is responsible for safeguarding the financial integrity of the University and for bringing expert and creative thinking to the challenges of maintaining a sustainable financial model for a public university in the context of a complex economic environment.
The position of Vice President for Finance and Treasurer is one of great importance and responsibility for the University, requiring significant financial expertise and experience, proven leadership and administrative abilities, excellent communication skills, and unquestioned integrity.
Appropriate academic preparation, degrees and certifications;
Substantial and increasingly responsible financial leadership experience;
Experience with a complex, highly integrated financial management system;
Either experience in, or the capacity to make a successful transition to, a complex public university;
Experience in managing a large team of professionals and support staff, including recruiting and evaluating talent and guiding their professional development;
Advanced subject matter expertise in finance, accounting, and business management; and
The capacity for a high level of critical, analytical, and creative thinking.
