The Business Analyst on the Financial Systems (FS) team in Accounting & Financial Reporting (AFR) will perform a broad range of duties to support existing and creating new General Ledger-related transactional and reporting applications AFR owns that are used by all campus departments and central accounting units.
Duties to include:
Support General Ledger (GL) operational transaction and reporting applications used by UI financial customers. Monitor & respond to questions, research & resolve errors; maintain user manuals; educate users; verify & reconcile sub-system data to GL.
Monitor, verify, reconcile and resolve issues for daily and monthly UI feeder system journals submitted to GL to meet audit compliance requirements.
Assist with completion of complex UI GL month/year end close processes. Follow established procedures; identify, communicate & resolve issues; verify data.
Participate as FS project team member to recommend enhancements, test, educate users, implement and provide on-going support for updates to existing financial applications.
May participate as FS project team member to design, test, educate users, implement and provide on-going support for new financial applications.
Participate in annual PeopleSoft GL module integrated tools testing.
Complete other tasks as assigned. Handle campus account closure and chartfield maintenance requests; monitor salary suspense, resolve issues, post correcting entries & reconcile reports; AFR website maintenance backup.
Generate & verify monthly standard GL Transaction Detail Reports prior to approving distribution to UI campus financial customers.

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics, Information Technology, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Typically 1 to 3 years experience with process/system design, testing, support and implementation of financial/accounting systems or related modules.
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
Ability to successfully plan, coordinate and balance multiple projects/tasks at one time and meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy with a focus on providing excellent customer service.
Demonstrated strong critical thinking, problem and analytical skills.
Ability to establish productive working relationships in a collaborative team environment while also possessing the ability to be a self-starter with a focus on continuous process improvement.
Demonstrated proficiency in computer software applications including Excel, Access or a comparable relational database and Word.
Experience gathering and manipulating information from a variety of sources to perform a task based on established processes and procedures.
Experience with PeopleSoft Financials, the General Ledger module or an automated accounting system.
Experience with the University’s financial systems, knowledge of related policies and procedures or experience with business analysis in a higher educational setting.
