The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point seeks a new Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs/CFO. The Vice Chancellor provides leadership, vision and direction to approximately 180 employees in the Business Affairs Division, including Facility Services, Financial Operations, Financial Planning and Budget, Human Resources, Policy/Compliance, Sustainability, University Police and Parking Services. The Vice Chancellor ensures that the institution protects its human, financial and physical resources. The Vice Chancellor reports directly Chancellor Bernie Patterson, serves as a member of the Chancellor’s executive staff, and is a key liaison with the University of Wisconsin System Administration. The Vice Chancellor serves as the chief financial officer of the university. The CFO will assume responsibilities at the University no later than June 2020.
Founded in 1894 as the sixth site for a Normal School in Wisconsin, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point has evolved through several stages of educational service to the citizens of Wisconsin. With the merger of Wisconsin’s two higher education systems in 1972, the campus emerged as the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with the unique mission of service to central Wisconsin. As the University celebrates the 125th year of higher education for the region, its enrollment is approximately 8,000 students. The majority of the students are on the Stevens Point campus while other students take classes on the branch campuses in Marshfield and Wausau. There are approximately 2,800 students living on campus. Part of The University of Wisconsin System, UW-Stevens Point offers more than 120 undergraduate programs in 48 majors and 78 minors in four colleges: College of Fine Arts and Communication, College of Letters and Science, College of Natural Resources and the College of Professional Studies.
Budgetary responsibilities include the university operating budget of approximately $207 million, the capital budget (as approved by the state legislature), and the budget for the Division of Business Affairs of approximately $13 million. The CFO will have a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education with preference for a degree in finance; experience managing large multi-faceted operations; demonstrated leadership in finance, budgeting and capital project planning. In addition, the person will display excellent interpersonal communication skills with evidence of a collaborative, team-oriented management and leadership style.
