The Desert Research Institute (DRI) is seeking a dedicated individual to fill a full-time Senior Accountant to perform a variety of professional level accounting duties including but are not limited to: preparing, maintaining, analyzing, verifying, and reconciling complex financial transactions, statements, records, and reports. The position also coordinates and supervises various accounting activities including accounts payable, travel, and DRI’s purchasing card program; will assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements and audit workpapers for DRI. This position provides highly responsible assistance to and serves as backup to the Controller in the Financial Services Office (FSO).

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related business degree from an accredited institution with 4 years of progressive relevant work experience;
One year of demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, and/or conflict resolution skills;
An understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and working knowledge of governmental accounting standards;
Intermediate Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook abilities;
Working knowledge of federal and state regulations as they pertain to documentation standards and processing of accounting transactions;
Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports;
Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and problem resolution skills;
Commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

Experience using Workday.
This position is considered sedentary but may occasionally require performing light physical tasks such as exerting up to 10lbs of force, lifting or carrying objects of 10 lbs., or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve waking or standing for brief periods of time.
