Reporting directly to the Vice President, Operations this position is responsible for supporting college Operational functions and to provide oversight and management of the college’s Risk Management area. Operational focus includes the evaluation, analysis and implementation of overall business standards, polices, processes and procedures for assigned and targeted areas to ensure college efficiency, effectiveness and continuity of operations. Risk Management responsibilities include the development, implementation and coordination of programs and standards in the areas of risk management including but not limited to: property and casualty insurance, workers’ compensation, loss prevention, claims management, and business continuity in accordance with federal and state statutes regulations, procedures, college policy, and responsible practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
•Advise and consult on risk management, create risk solutions, and continuously improve risk management processes. •Manage and oversee policy renewals, claims, issuance of certificates, budget planning, and risk minimization programs. •Prepare incident and claims reports, and communicate issues to insurance provider and senior management. •Assist in reviewing insurance section of agreements and acquiring appropriate insurance coverage for projects or other contractual services.
•Manage all aspects of Worker’s Compensation policies, claims, vendor relationships, and return to work program •Train managers on Worker’s Compensation best practice and Colle procedures •Stay up-to-date on OSHA regulations/requirements
•Under the direction of the Vice President, provides analysis, development and implementation of program standards to ensure operational effectiveness, efficiencies and compliance for assigned initiatives and tasks. •Serve as the Solution Owner to the area of Operations to support an Agile methodology framework, identifying operational issues, facilitating the analysis of key business processes and methodologies. Collaborate with other departments to build consensus and provides recommendations and oversight for implementation. •Serve as the Budget Officer including the annual development and management of assigned budget areas. •Monitor and work with local agencies and counties with respect to filing and maintaining property taxes including exemptions
•Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Risk Management or related degree or equivalent experience. •5 years of experience in Risk Management and Worker’s Compensation claims management. Associated Risk Management Certification preferred •Strong organizational, analytical and project management skills. Ability to work independently to prioritize multiple tasks and projects •Understanding of contracts and ability to evaluate related contractual risks •Knowledge of property and liability insurance policies including self-insurance; and Idaho tort and liability laws •Demonstrated insurance, finance, legal, loss control, claims management, risk information system(s), analytical and administrative abilities. •Proficient skills with standard computer programs; ability to create reports, graphs, charts, etc. •Knowledge of the philosophy, principles, and practice of organizational management, business structure and processes •Experience and knowledge of emergency management and business continuity best practices preferred •Excellent communication skills; both oral and written as well as strong problem solving skills to represent the interest of the College •Three to five years of experience working with teams in an Agile or Lean methodology environment preferred
