Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois, a respected leader among community based medical programs and an internationally recognized leader in medical education, is seeking an experienced professional for the role of Associate Provost of Finance and Administration. The position is based in Springfield, the state capital and home to Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.
Reporting directly to Dean and Provost of the Medical School (who also functions as the CEO of the faculty practice plan), the Associate Provost operates at a strategic level in the organization operating as the principal business officer for the Office of Finance and Administration. This position provides central administration, coordinated management, long-range planning and leadership for the Core Office, Human Resources, Financial Affairs, and financial and treasury functions for the faculty practice plan.
The individual in this position provides leadership for overall fiscal planning and institutional resource management as well as serving as the CFO to SIU HealthCare for business processes and financial planning and management. Duties include exploring various means and avenues of alternative funding for the School of Medicine programs and making recommendations to the Dean and Provost and/or University administration regarding major issues of fiduciary responsibility, fund management, reallocation and policy.
As a member of the Dean’s Advisory Staff, Associate Provost attends and participates in Executive Committee, System Board meetings, departmental meetings and Executive Committee Retreats to represent fiscal and administrative policies, processes, procedures and recommendations. In conjunction with the Dean and Provost, the individual serves as a senior negotiator for hospital academic contracting and for recruitment of senior School of Medicine administrators, Chairs and Associate Deans.
Qualifications: Master’s Degree or higher in business administration, accounting, finance or higher education administration with 10 years of progressively responsible experience in institutional operations, financial and budget administration, human resources, facilities administration, planning and/or other institutional management in a medical school or health care system. Must have executive presence and ability to work and communicate effectively internally and externally, be a strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and a visionary approach.
