The University of Central Florida (UCF), the nation’s second-largest public university, seeks an experienced and accomplished executive as Chief Compliance, Ethics, and Risk Officer (CCERO). Reporting directly to the President and with a reporting line to the Audit and Compliance Committee of the Board of Trustees, the incoming CCERO will lead the comprehensive compliance, risk mitigation, and ethics program across the University and all of its affiliated enterprises. This is an unparalleled opportunity to take an established and high performing unit to new levels of excellence and to work with a leadership team that recognizes and embraces this critical role in the institution.
Located in vibrant Orlando, the University of Central Florida is a thriving, preeminent research university that prides itself on providing access and supporting student success. Home to 1,890 outstanding faculty, over 10,000 dedicated staff, and more than 66,000 students, UCF is one of the most dynamic universities in the nation and it leads all universities in Florida in conferring more than 15,000 degrees a year. Committed to innovative community partnerships, world-class research with local impact, and the integration of technology and learning, the University harnesses the power of scale and the pursuit of excellence to transform lives and deploy its distinctive assets to solve society’s greatest challenges.
The Compliance, Ethics, and Risk Office plays a vital role in supporting the growth and operation of the University by converting often complicated laws, regulations, and standards into workable compliance measures, fostering a culture of compliance and ethics through training and awareness efforts, and ensuring program effectiveness through monitoring and reporting. The Chief Compliance, Ethics, and Risk Officer will lead a talented staff of 12 and will also represent the University in external forums. The CCERO will bring experience in the development, implementation, and expansion of an effective comprehensive compliance, ethics, and risk program and have a keen understanding of applicable laws, regulations, industry standards, and related compliance issues within a large, complex academic and/or research organization. This experience will be complemented by an interpersonal style and the political savvy to be a partner with and wise counselor to a senior leadership team as they navigate through an increasingly complicated regulatory and competitive landscape. The CCERO has the singular opportunity to build upon a strong foundation, further elevate the quality of services delivered across the institution, and, situated within an institution on a remarkable trajectory, substantially impact the field of compliance, ethics, and risk mitigation, writ large.
