The Assistant Vice President for Financial Affairs (“AVP”) reports directly to the Senior Vice President for Financial Affairs and Treasurer and provides leadership and oversight to the financial and business operations of the University. Reporting directly to the AVP are the Controller, the Director of Financial Analysis, the Director of Contract Administration, and the Senior Director of Business Affairs and Risk Management. Included among the specific areas of oversight are accounting and financial reporting, grants, tax and debt compliance, procurement services, risk management and insurance, contracts administration and capital budgets.
Strong candidates would, ideally, hold an active CPA license and an advanced degree; a bachelor's degree is required. In addition, candidates will be expected to excel at most of the following:
Experience in increasingly responsible positions in higher education;
Extensive background in business operations, financial reporting, and analysis;
Training and experience with enterprise financial systems, preferably including experience with Banner/Ellucian;
Proven ability to work within fast-paced, deadline-driven environment;
Proven experience in analyzing and reporting on complex information;
A thoughtful leader with a collaborative leadership style and the ability to work with many individuals with varied experience;
Track record of excellent customer service and support;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Interpersonal communication, human relations, and team-building skills; and
Ability to foster and maintain good working relationships with faculty, administrators, and senior management.
