Purpose of Position
The University of Texas System Associate Vice Chancellor and Controller has System-wide responsibility for the oversight of accounting activities, including the preparation of the consolidated University of Texas System annual financial report. Other major responsibilities include the determination of System-wide accounting policy and financial controls, management of the external audit process, financial planning, management reporting, and serving as liaison for accounting matters with governmental bodies.
Oversees the preparation of the consolidated annual financial report for the University of Texas System.
Determines System-wide accounting policy and financial controls.
Manages the external audit process.
Represents the University of Texas System before various governmental oversight bodies including both legislative staff and elected officials to inform and educate members on various financial topics related to the University of Texas System.
Manages the payroll process for UT System Administration employees.
Works with executive leadership at UT System Administration and UT institutions to further the goals and mission of UT System.
Develops, mentors, counsels and supervises a staff of approximately 30 professionals.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; 10 years or more of progressively responsible experience in a similarly complex organization; CPA or CMA.
Master’s degree in related field (e.g., MPA or MBA)
May work around standard office conditions.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
