Mary Baldwin University (MBU) is conducting a nationwide search for its next Vice President of Business and Finance (VPBF). The VPBF serves as the financial leader of the University and reports to the President of MBU. The VPBF will work collaboratively with the President and other members of MBU’s leadership to further the academic mission of the University and the success of its students.
A multifaceted University with a diverse portfolio of academic colleges and programs, Mary Baldwin is experiencing remarkable growth and offers an exceptional opportunity for a candidate ready to help develop a new business model for small, private universities in an increasingly dynamic and demanding time for higher education.
Recently becoming a University to reflect its growing range of Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral programs, MBU is an entrepreneurial institution with a record of innovation aspiring to meet the evolving higher education needs of society. The VPBF will play an instrumental role in ensuring that MBU continues its development as a small University responsive to changes in society and the role of higher education within that society.
The ideal candidate will develop content and oversee the preparation of financial analyses, modeling and metrics necessary to support strategic decisions and will be regularly called upon to help fashion and promote the senior administration’s vision by presenting supporting data in a format suitable for sophisticated stakeholders and also, on occasion, present to other audiences who are not financial experts.
The VPBF oversees and ensures that the finance and accounting department, budget office, student accounts office, facility maintenance, human resources, and purchasing areas are operating efficiently, are accessible and user-friendly operations with open and effective channels of communication with faculty, students and other administrative units.
Inquiries, nominations, and applications are invited. Credential review is underway and will continue until the position is filled. For fullest consideration, applicant materials should be received by June 30, 2018. Candidates should provide a résumé, along with a letter of interest that describes their qualifications and details of success in finance and administration, and a list of three references who will not be contacted without prior approval. The leadership profile can be viewed at www.wittkieffer.com. Confidential inquiries or application materials may be sent, in confidence, via email to the Witt/Kieffer consultant supporting this search, Greg Santore at MBU-VPBF@wittkieffer.com.
