The Provost & Executive Vice Chancellor provides academic administration leadership for the Divisions of Academia and Student Affairs as well as the Office of Research & Economic Development. The Office of Banner 9 Implementation is newly established. The current version of Banner will soon be de-supported by ELLUCIAN. Implementing Banner 9 provides many opportunities for efficient business process redesign at UNCG. This implementation is being guided by the Provost & Executive Vice Chancellor. The office will lead and direct strategic planning discussions for campus implementation. The Executive Director serves as the internal project director and strategist for the implementation of Ellucian’s Banner 9 ERP system, and will lead the University wide functional support team of functional analysts who will serve as product owners for Ellucian Banner 9 across all modules with best practices regarding setup and configuration.
The Office of Banner 9 (Banner ENGAGE) is currently seeking qualified candidates to consider for the Finance Product Owner and Functional Analyst position.
The Finance Product Owner and Functional Analyst is responsible for providing planning, project coordination and process mapping of cost-effective finance technology. This position will be an innovative, forward-thinking leader to manage the strategy, maintenance, design, testing and development of the information systems that support Financial business processes to meet current and future business needs throughout the Finance Department and supporting campus-wide Finance business processes.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
Serve as the Financial Systems Product Owner
Mold the vision of Financial systems and its contribution to student success and convey that vision to executive management and the technical team. Understand and anticipate future needs.
Manage and prioritize the Financial systems product backlog.
Work effectively with business leaders and subject matter experts in a collaborative manner, building constructive and effective relationships.
Evaluate business processes and recommend improvements to maximize the use of Finance Technology resources and applications including but not limited to procure to pay, travel and expense, payroll, time entry, contracts and grants, effort reporting, general accounting, non-student accounts receivable, fixed assets, budget development and labor distribution and position control and labor budgeting.
Analyze and document opportunities to streamline existing business processes which may include combining or sharing processes between departments, replacing paper processing with automated processing, establishing data consistencies within Banner, improving communication, and identifying document management needs.
Work with functional and technical leaders and staff to ensure appropriate implementation and utilization of Banner and related systems.
Identify quality and efficiency metrics to calculate and validation cost saving opportunities gained from process changes (including recovered development time).
Document current processes by conducting interviews, site visits, document analysis, process and technical mapping and task analysis.
Perform final systems and integration testing and signoff.
Facilitate User Acceptance Testing and signoff on behalf of the business offices.
Document systems and user acceptance test plans and testing strategy.
Define and manage an effective training program for Banner 9 and business process improvements for all campus users of finance and budget processing.
Work with Banner 9 project leadership and staff as requested.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Engineering, Math or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of experience in Business Application Consulting or Development; or Bachelor’s Degree with some computer coursework from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of experience in Business Application Consulting or Development; or Associate’s Degree in Computer Programming and three (3) years of experience in Application Consulting or Development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Journey level requires an additional one (1) year of experience
Advanced level requires an additional two (2) years of experience
Five (5) to seven (7) years of directly related experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Business Systems/Analytics, Accounting Systems or related field.
