Housing, Foods and Ancillary Services Manager 5 (Senior Director for Housing and Food Services, Enterprise Services)
The Senior Director for Housing and Food Services (HFS), Enterprise Services provides leadership, direction and oversight for the enterprise operations of HFS on thirteen campuses at The Pennsylvania State University. The portfolio of the Senior Director includes foods purchasing, a 40,000 square foot warehouse, bakery, culinary and dietary services, and HFS access and security operations. The Senior Director will have oversight for a staff comprised of over 70 management and administrative support employees, technical service (bargaining unit) employees, para-professionals and part-time student employees. The Senior Director reports to the Assistant Vice President for Housing, Food Services and Residence Life and serves on the senior leadership team of HFS. Key Responsibilities Include: Providing vision, leadership and strategic direction for HFS enterprise operations; ensuring overall quality of products and services offered across all Penn State campuses; coordinating a long range strategic plan for HFS; developing operational budgets with attention to cost control and income generation; supporting the human resources of HFS through recruitment, training development, and supervision; coordinating HFS emergency plans while working to mitigate risk when responding to emergency situations; demonstrating an understanding campus security and safety practices and current trends; managing HFS related contracts such as the pouring rights, cable TV and laundry; acting as the primary liaison to Auxiliary and Business Services Marketing and Information Technology staff; demonstrating a commitment to understanding of all residential campuses through campus visits and regular communication; championing quality customer service; cultivating communication, teamwork, and residential experiences that are welcoming and inclusive of all students, employees and customers; demonstrating a commitment to diversity and inclusion by leading and supporting such activities and initiatives; connecting with students though meetings with student organizations and student government leaders; developing effective partnerships with colleagues in a variety of offices inside and outside of Housing and Food Services including University Police, Physical Plant and Student Affairs. Serve on university-wide, Auxiliary and Business Services and HFS committees as needed. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in a hospitality, business or a nutrition related discipline or higher plus twelve years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree preferred. Prior experience in progressively responsible positions in housing and food services is required. Successful candidate should have experience in campus food service operations with a particular focus on sustainability, experience in maximizing fiscal and human resources, and excellent interpersonal skills that encourage collaboration and cooperation. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as part of your job responsibilities. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background check.
