Working at a strategic level, and under the general guidance of the Vice-President University Operations and the Vice-President & Provost, this job is responsible for institutional-level operating budget, enrolment and tuition fee planning and administration. The Executive Director serves as an adviser and consultant to senior management on policy and planning decisions, particularly on questions of strategic mandate agreements with the Province, enrolment, government grant, tuition, ancillary fees, student aid and academic and shared service budgetary issues. The incumbent is responsible for addressing many technically challenging matters that arise from the complexities of the University’s budget and the need to analyze and interpret institutional data to assist senior management in decision making. The Executive Director manages the annual in-depth budget review process of the academic divisions and shared services portfolios, including preparing information to evaluate institutional and unit priorities, business cases for proposed initiatives data collection and analysis, development of metric benchmarks and provision of advice to Vice Presidents, the Provost and the President.
The Executive Director has primary responsibility for the development and implementation of a data governance framework for the University, with the objective of providing high quality data for decision making purposes at all levels of staff and management. The Executive Director, along with Information Technology Services, has responsibility for overseeing central Business Intelligence (BI) initiatives and applications. This connection serves as a link to the institutional data library, ensuring comprehensive and integrated strategic oversight of BI initiatives, including strategic planning related to specialized cross institutional data applications and services which provide and support planning information for the University.
The incumbent has managerial responsibility for all functions and personnel in the Planning and Budget office.
