Accounting Manager 5 (Senior Director of Research)
This position will represent the Corporate Controller's Office on all matters related to research administration. The essential duty of the Senior Director will be to provide oversight and supervision for the Corporate Controller's Office units involved in research administration which includes the Cost Analysis Department and Research Accounting Department. This individual will advise the Assistant Controller and Accounting & Payroll Services teams regarding research administration issues and propose solutions and approaches for the organization. Other responsibilities will include developing and implementing cross-functional processes across these departments, including development of systems, policies and procedures; resolving complex issues and problems arising from day to day operations; and setting strategic direction, in consultation with the Assistant Controller. This individual will review, authorize and approve transactions which require Office of Corporate Controller approval, collaborate on policy, procedure and systems, coordinate and oversee data requests, and resolve issues uncovered through audits. The Senior Director will represent the Corporate Controller on a variety of internal and external committees, and manage interactions with ONR and DCAA and other outside agencies and auditors as required for research and compliance and audit request. This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus ten years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will possess a high level of accountability for ensuring priorities and critical deadlines are achieved within the departments. They will also need to demonstrate a high level of effective communication with people at various levels within the University through presentations and training opportunities on various research administration issues. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus ten years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
