GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Teaches a variety of accounting courses that may include Principles of Financial Accounting, Concepts of Financial Accounting, Computerized Accounting, Management Accounting, and Financial Accounting Systems and Procedures; provides leadership in accounting curriculum development; performs academic advising for accounting and business/business transfer students; maintains regular office hours; attends regularly scheduled departmental, grouping and college meetings; serves on college committees; performs other duties as assigned.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Teaches online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses in accounting, which may include but is not limited to Principles of Financial Accounting I and II, Concepts of Financial Accounting I and II, Management Accounting, Financial Accounting Systems and Procedures, Introduction to Federal Income Taxes, Introduction to Computerized Accounting;
Directs and teaches students and evaluates student achievement in college classrooms and professional placements;
Advises and counsels students relative to progress in achieving program objectives;
Supports students in professional and academic situations, and refers students to appropriate campus resources;
Provides a professional role model for students in accounting courses and programs;
Develops and organizes curriculum to meet student and community needs;
Participates in departmental assessment of student learning outcomes;
Develops and reviews the educational philosophy, purposes and objectives of accounting and business programs;
Develops specific criteria for the evaluation of student achievement;
Uses educational technologies appropriately and effectively, including Moodle and Smartboard;
Serves on college committees as elected and/or assigned;
Participates in department, group, college-wide and related meetings;
Maintains records and reports in accordance with established departmental and institutional policies;
Provides support to part-time instructors working with assigned courses and organizations;
Maintains scheduled office hours in accordance with campus policy;
Maintains collegial relationships with educational and professional contacts;
Continues professional study and education;
Maintains professional memberships, as needed;
Performs other duties as assigned.
MBA or Master’s degree in Accounting or related discipline from an accredited institution;
Successful teaching experience;
Three years of professional experience working in the accounting field or equivalent experience;
Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form;
Ability to interact successfully with an academically and culturally diverse population;
Ability to work effectively with others.
Demonstrated successful community college teaching experience;
C.P.A. (Certified Public Accountant) license;
Three to five years’ experience in a small public accounting firm or three to five years’ experience with small business accounting;
Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse abilities and academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, and cultural composition of community college students, faculty and staff;
Experience with current innovations in teaching and fluency with the use of internet technologies and multimedia tools as teaching aids;
Experience teaching online courses;
Familiarity with Moodle or similar online learning applications;
Experience with curriculum and program development

Additional Salary Information: The appointment salary is based on one’s education and
experience as dictated in the collective bargaining agreement classification compensation structure.
