Assist with supervising and directing accounting operations and personnel of the university, including, but not limited to general ledger, annual institutional budget, grants, payroll and tax reporting, Master Card program, preparation of various schedules, financial statements and reports and annual audit activities.
A bachelor’s degree (preferably Business Administration or Accounting) and a minimum of three years’ prior experience is required. CPA certification a plus, but not required. Management and supervision experience, preferably in a non-profit or higher education environment; strong technical accounting background with understanding of and ability to apply accounting skills and concepts; strong aptitude for technology applications; strong organizational and analytical skills; manage multiple priorities, exercise discretion and independent decision making skills; effectively communicate with a wide range of co-workers and colleagues (faculty, staff, and students); work independently or in a team. Computer literacy with proficiency in business applications, such as Microsoft Office with sound proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of accounting systems and the internet, Gmail, PeopleSoft, and basic office equipment with ability to learn new systems. In preparation for the financial audit, additional hours are required in the summer with possible Saturday work.
