The University of Missouri office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Contracts Specialist.
This position is responsible for all aspects of contract processing, including review of contract agreements, licenses, permits, applications and certifications and other documents requiring University campus approval and signature. Examples include contracts/agreements with hotels, speakers/lecturers/ consultants and performers. This position has campus-wide impact. Responsibilities include:
Review and edit contracts (MOUs, temporary use of facilities, consulting, licenses, etc).
Resolve contractual issues with third parties, typically related to required terms and conditions.
Serve as staff resource person on matters pertaining to contracts, liability issues and risk management. Advise faculty and staff on matters that may expose the institution to liability and confer with Office of General Counsel as appropriate. Backup office coverage as needed and other duties as assigned.
Assist in maintaining the web portal and document approvals.
Provide training on contracts/executing contracts on campus.
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired.
Contract administration experience. Ability to work with diverse groups of individuals and ability to handle difficult situations. Knowledge of legal terminology. Ability to think critically to resolve contractual issues.
